Silence is Golden

I am here, your sister in Christ, Clare.
I have come to this circle with many of my barefoot sisters who have served God over the years since our little order of poor nuns, poor sisters, came together. It might be hard for you to imagine as it was for us a group of women coming together in silence, so used to have working out our daily dilemmas by talking, by sharing, by engaging. Not so different today than then. When we realized there was a certain futility in endless discussion, we took a vow of silence, we designated a person as I have said before to engage visitors. Of course we used our voices in praise, in song. But what made the difference was the silence, the prayers, our souls opening up, beyond those conversational solutions, simply into the love of God, feeling the presence.
I can tell you, our collective spiritual presence brought more people to God than any words we could have used and I feel this may be valuable for you collectively, and I speak to the men as well who like to analyze and come up with all kinds of intellectual and material solutions.
Your strength as a community is not only in the actions you do to serve others, and I certainly encourage that. For whatever you can do for the hungry, the homeless, the displaced, the abused, the grief-stricken and the lonely, you do for the kingdom. But I remind you what you do in grace and in the love of God will touch more souls than any words, any talks, any sermons, and any discussions you may have, valuable as they may seem to be. It might be helpful to you, to just be mindful of stopping in any given moment, instead of responding with words, asking God for an answer and if one comes through in guidance, surely give it.
As you go through your day, in a world filled with chatter, you can always stop, listen to your soul, sing a song of praise in your heart, let the words, if necessary, be of love, be helpful, be full of joy from your lips. As you wonder how to move forward and progress, your soul awakening and ever-expanding in God’s love, these may be ways that are useful to you. I shall keep this short and simply say, in any moment, whether you are confused, antagonized, seeking guidance, alone, in grief, stop, and allow the prayers from your heart, from your soul to touch God. Answers will always be given and beyond that, God’s love, the great answer to all. May you all be blessed in the great gift of God’s love. I thank you for allowing me and my beautiful barefoot sisters to come and visit you. Also,I give greetings from my new sister Care, who sends her love to all and her beloved as well as her grandson as always and to all you, go in peace in the blessings of God, may they be yours.
