The Gift of the Present: A Lesson on the Perception of Time and Consciousness

God bless you, beloved souls. I am Matthew and I wish to address the dilemma of time. You live in a material world, a world discovered by time. As the Earth turns, as the sun turns, seasons, all the elements conspire to give you a sense of the passage of time. This is a blessing. For as you continue on your journey in this world, time helps you to conform to the rhythms of life.
My friends, time is only known in the mind, the senses and the body. It is not known in the soul. The soul has no true appreciation of time because there is nothing within the soul that marks time. The soul marks experiences. Whether those experiences are done during the daylight, in the evening or in your sleep state, to the soul it is a continuous rhythm of experience, an acknowledgement of your existence.
It is important that you realise that, to the soul, your time on Earth is very short indeed compared to the existence of the soul and its existence, possibly for all eternity. Indeed, in the spirit world, the perceptions of time are completely different, altered by the fact that there is no material rhythm that you are subject to at this time, that you continue to experience the flow of consciousness, but that consciousness is not altered by the rhythms of the material world. When you pass into spirit, your sense of how long you exist there, the segmentation of various events, the timing and expression of those events is not marked by minutes, hours and days. It is marked by consciousness. It is marked by the free flow of your consciousness in that reality.
I hope I am not making things too complicated for you, my friends. Yet, it is important to realise that indeed your sense of time often is an illusion. That indeed there are times when you feel that your experiences speed up, that the churning over of the rhythms of time are happening at a higher pace, a faster pace. At times things slow down. At times when there is something very traumatic or dramatic happening to you, it seems like time slows down altogether.
These are perceptions of the events that are taking place and this will continue to be in the spirit world. The speeding up and slowing down of time will be determined by your consciousness. It is not determined by some celestial rhythm and marking of time. There is certainly a passage of events, but that passage is flexible and elastic in its experience.
I say these things to assure you that though some of you who have lived a substantial number of years upon the Earth and feel like it has been a long time, often beside that experience and perception is the experience that it has been a short time, a contradiction of terms. Yet, it is true. For within the soul consciousness, it truly has been a short time and within the material consciousness, it may seem like many thousands of hours, millions of hours, thousands of days. Yet, indeed, you will review that time on Earth when you pass over. That review will give you a sense of your soul’s perception of time.
You will come to know what is important, what has happened in your life that is significant and the emotions, perceptions and memories that come with it will be yours to review, a gift of no time and yet all time together. There is so much to understand in the passage of your progression, beloved souls. To understand your perceptions and how they are informed by many elements within you. Time is one of those perceptions. Indeed, there is the regular passage of time that comes in the material world, but your perceptions of these things change in accordance with what element of your consciousness you are using. How you may see things, and there are layers of perception, layers of understanding, layers of experience, layers of consciousness and time is affected by all of these things.
I leave you with this, my beloved friends. The greatest element of time is the present. For this is the element most potent in your experience, in your choices, in your consciousness. The moment is a powerful thing that you may indeed appreciate how pregnant it is with possibilities, how you may utilise these things in ways that will change your reality, even your passage of time and that experience of it. The power of free will, the power of choice, consciousness together determines much regarding your perceptions of time. Focus on the present. Be with the present. See with the perceptions of your soul what is possible here and now.
My beloved friends, this moment is an opportunity to receive the great gift of God’s Love. May you seize that moment and may the experience and bliss that comes with that experience stretch out in your experience of time, so that you may savour it fully and be present with it. May God bless you, my beloved friends. May you be of light. May you truly be with God in these moments and may these moments be truly significant and cherished.
